Stock Controller

Reporting to Assistant Financial Controller

Job Purpose
To ensure that the value and quantity of all stock items is recorded in SAGE 200 on an accurate & timely basis.
To ensure that all necessary controls & procedures are in place to manage all stock movements.
The role carries responsibility for working closely with production, purchasing, goods inwards and dispatch to ensure necessary functions are carried out correctly  

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop the company’s stock management strategy with the aim of controlling costs within budgetary limits, generating savings, rationalising inventory and maximizing available working capital
  • Manage and maintain the company’s materials and finished goods products including stock profiles and stock locations
  • Manage and control perpetual inventory stock counting / inventory accuracy checks
  • Minimise overstocks and removal of obsolete / redundant materials to maximize availability of working capital. Ensure slow moving stock lines are addressed & actioned.
  • Oversee that incoming materials are receipted and managed appropriately according to company procedure.
  • Ensure that any materials that are late or holding up production for whatever reason are chased and followed up until received.
  • Ensure the Bills of Materials held within sage are up to date & accurate and that all changes/new BOMs are documented and authorised
  • Provide routine management information on inventory performance
  • Monitor and evaluate consumables usage & costs
  • Monitor & evaluate material utilization and scrap
  • Implement improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory, minimise costs and maximize working capital
  • Write and maintain accurate written procedures for all main inventory control processes and functions.
  • Be responsible for leading, managing and running planned stock takes.
  • Perform cyclic stock checks
  • Check and adjust production floor data when required
  • Take the lead in reporting and acting on slow moving stock items
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of the stock management system
  • Produce weekly & monthly stock reports for production/QC/purchasing to ensure the operational side of the business is efficient & managed effectively. In addition, to produce any ad hoc stock reports as requested
  • Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved.  
  • Produce month end stock reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Challenge production and other departments who impact stock to ensure appropriate controls are maintained on all stocks
  • Recommend continuous improvement required to ensure robust and reliable stock records are maintained and controls remain effective.
