Job Function
The successful candidate will be responsible for querying, analysing and supplying commercially sensitive data to key internal stakeholders. As part of this role, you will gain exposure to multiple entities within the group covering an array of financial service products. The Data Analyst will contribute towards strategic projects, developing and presenting insights to aid strategic decision making.
The role will be balanced between routine monthly reporting and project-based work. As a result, the candidate will be exposed to a variety of key data warehouses covering data across the group.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to senior stakeholders within a fast-paced environment. The business will provide a driven candidate support with further education if desired.
Part of the role will be focused on automating data handling and analysis using R or Python, as well as querying the data using SQL.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • To query, analyse and interpret data using Microsoft Excel, SQL and R
  • Develop new business intelligence reports with Microsoft PowerBI
  • Work with the Analytics team to deliver value-add projects and drive business performance

Skills & Competencies:
  • Essential - Capable Microsoft Excel user with a thorough understanding of lookups, nested IF statements, aggregations, pivot tables and similar functions
  • Essential – Ability to query Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Essential - R statistical programming knowledge
  • Preferable – financial modelling experience
  • Must possess a mathematical and analytical mind-set
  • Patient and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Critical thinking – analysing and drawing conclusions from data sets
  • Prepared to present findings to senior stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Comfortable working within tight deadlines and ability to effectively prioritise workload
  • R or Python programming knowledge is essential

Experience, Education & Travel Requirements
Experience: Experience of querying databases using SQL and analysing output using R and Microsoft Excel
Education: Educated to degree level (preferably in a computing or mathematical discipline)
Travel: Prepared to travel across the UK including overnight stays. A full UK driving licence is essential.
