Our client, located in Caerphilly, is seeking a Finance Manager to join their Finance Team for a fixed period of 1- year.


Reporting Activities:
  • Support month-end reporting activities, including those specific to a Corporate/Head Office function – Derivatives, Borrowings, Pensions, Dividends, Project costs etc.
  • Provide appropriate and timely financial reports covering various metrics as required by head office management including monthly management accounts (P&L, B/S)
  • Support Group and Divisional reporting requirements (using HFM)
  • Provide routine and ad-hoc analysis as requested by site operations, Finance Business Partners, Division and Group Finance
  • Approving/reviewing of standard and non-standard journals
  • Ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled on a timely basis
  • Analyse and resolve any un-reconcilable items on a timely basis
  • Maintain and champion a strong control environment
  • Support the preparation and review of VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements
  • Prepare/Review annual financial statements for a number of dormant head office entities
  • Regular review of banking documentation and processes to ensure adherence to the Schedule of Delegated Authority for the respective UK businesses, whilst also ensuring that the daily tasks of the banking team are completed as required
  • Support the Treasury activities undertaken in the R2R department, ensuring processes and policies are adhered to at all times
  • Oversee the Inter-company and Expenses function to ensure tasks are completed in line with agreed processes and any queries raised from the various stakeholders are dealt with efficiently and accurately.

Process Improvement:
  • Actively identify areas for improvement within the team
  • Work with and/or lead user groups in realising those improvements across all teams
  • Support various initiatives including cross departmental project improvements and work transfer activities

Team Management:
  • Guide, monitor and be responsible for the work and performance of the team members
  • Provide or co-ordinate staff training and support the team to achieve excellent performance
  • The ability to supervise and motivate staff in a team

Person Specification

  • Fully Qualified Accountant, preferably ACCA or ACA
  • Batchelor’s degree or other certification in a related discipline

Job Specific Technical Requirements:
  • Experience of using multiple accounting systems e.g. preferably SAP
  • Experience of using Hyperion Enterprise or Hyperion Financial Management (or similar consolidation applications)
  • Experience of Corporate and Centralised Functions environment and reporting requirements
  • Experience of large international manufacturing organisation
  • Understanding of Divisional/Group reporting process and accounting standards (UKGAAP/IFRS)

  • Track record of providing accounting/reporting services
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment, with multiple customers and competing demands
  • Knowledge of accounting standards (UK GAAP and IFRS)
  • Experience of working with Treasury and Banking functions is desirable.
  • MS Office suite, in particular Excel
