Payroll and Finance Officer

  • To ensure all payroll deadlines are met monthly as per payroll timetable
  • To process timesheets and relevant data for all services allocated within the team
  • Import all information for Starters, make amendments to salaries and process leavers daily up to payroll cut off, ensure that the appropriate security measures are taken
  • Input absence information, checking validity, on a daily basis up to payroll cut off, ensuring that the HR are informed of any staff governed by the Management of Absence Policy
  • To record and calculate payments for SSP, and Company Sick Pay as per the employee’s contract of employment in conjunction with current SSP regulations where applicable
  • To record and calculate payments for SMP, and Company Maternity Pay as per the employee’s contract of employment in conjunction with current SMP regulations notifying staff of necessary paperwork required to ensure timely payment. This may also apply to SPP and SAP
  • To ensure Attachment of Earnings payments are accurately calculated and recorded
  • To calculate and process mileage claims under the Fixed Profit Car Scheme (Inland Revenue approved rates scheme)
  • Respond to all telephone enquiries in a professional and helpful manner, resolving all

Purchase Ledge/Sales Ledger/Credit Control
  • Processing of all sales invoices raised within 4 days of billing period close and collation of files to support invoices raised
  • Maintenance of sales ledger with expectation of zero debtors > 90 days overdue
  • Processing and maintenance of purchase ledger and payment runs which are produced monthly, settling invoices due
  • Assistance required in a wide variety of other financial support areas may include:
  • Reporting, Cashflow Monitoring, Consolidation, Budgeting, Forecasting, Business Analysis
  • Provides support within the online banking platform to set up supplier payments and payroll.
  • Taking and Receiving payments via Worldpay

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excel intermediate skills (pivot tables etc.)
  • Quick learner
  • Attentive to detail
  • Self-Motivated
  • Experienced in the most routine of above tasks
  • Studying or part qualified with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English and Maths essential
  • Ambitious
  • Experience of using Quickbooks or similar accounting software preferred
