Job Vacancy: Finance Controller

Our client, located in Cardiff, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their finance department. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing staff and all day-to-day operations, in regard to all financial and accounting activities.

Main Duties:
  • Supervise and manage a small finance team
  • Production of monthly financial management information pack within specified deadlines
  • Financial support and analysis to all parts of the business, including regular meetings as required with senior and departmental managers to discuss financial performance
  • Offer professional judgement on all financial matters and advise on ways of improving business performance
  • Provide information to aid key strategic decision making and formulate business strategies
  • Advise on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions
  • Produce and manage annual budget in accordance with Group requirements and expectations
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly review internal reports against budget to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Monitor revenue, margin and forecast against budget on a weekly / monthly basis.
  • Review and recommendation of pricing policies
  • Review and analysis of client contracts, purchase agreements and proposals
  • Company–wide supervisory responsibility to ensure the proper use and continued improvement of ERP finance system
  • Manage annual statutory accounts and corporate tax returns process
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Assist the MD in presenting reports to Group executives, board members and stakeholders

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a business finance environment
  • Hands on approach
  • Strong written reporting skills
  • Confident and capable communication skills
  • Highly numeric / strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced level spreadsheet skills, PC literacy and strong IT skills
  • Willingness to work additional hours on occasion as required
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Europe on occasions as required
  • A drive to continually improve processes and seek new challenges
  • Ability to work well under pressure, working accurately with attention to detail and meeting deadlines

  • Experience of working in a fast paced, quality focused environment
  • Good academic record and / or enthusiasm for further education as required
  • Customer service experience
